Chercheuse en aménagement touristique, Emmanuelle George-Marcelpoil dirige l'unité de recherche Développement des territoires montagnards à Irstea sur le site de Grenoble. Ses travaux portent sur le tourisme de montagne, notamment celui porté par les stations de sports d'hiver, avec comme objectif d'analyser les processus de gouvernance à l’œuvre dans ses destinations ainsi que leurs dynamiques.
